Cyber, digital and space

Creating the foundations for future innovations

Technology is playing a crucial part in building our future.

Supercomputers are solving unsolvable problems. Artificial intelligence is integrating into our daily lives. Using technology, we are creating a future now that will be defined by knowledge, by seamless and digitally powered experiences in all areas of our lives.

We need new and bespoke facilities that support the creation of the future. Facilities that provide controlled conditions, supporting precise research. We redefine boundaries when it comes to delivery in this field. So, our clients can redefine much, much more.

Our technical experts possess the knowledge to deliver future-looking facilities from design to activation, fully realising our clients’ vision and incorporating their unique requirements. From quantum computing to spacecraft testing, no challenge is too great.

Our teams can overcome obstacles that others can’t. Sustainability can be difficult to achieve in facilities that require energy to power the impossible. But, with an understanding of the science behind the designs, our experts have developed geothermal energy saving solutions that preserve critical capabilities while prioritising efficiency.

We’re planting the seeds for the future today so our clients can deliver the cyber infrastructure of tomorrow.

Activation included

End-to-end partnership is a key part of our offering. We saw an opportunity to deliver in a better way, supporting our clients through the challenges they face after the design and construction phases. That’s why our teams include experts that deliver on activation. Achieving readiness is a stage built into our delivery programmes from their inception

Leveraging the latest in technology

Construction is undergoing a digital transformation of its own. New technologies are emerging, bringing with them new capabilities, like BIM and materials passports. These advancements are expanding the possibilities when it comes to delivering projects in this sector, leading to shorter programmes and more efficient teams.

Boldly going where no others have before

In the UK, we’re redefining boundaries by delivering on projects that are the first of their kind. One such is the Harwell Campus’s National Satellite Test Facility (NSTF), designed to test spacecraft and satellites of up to seven tonnes.

Among many resources for putting the next generation of interstellar voyagers through their paces, the project included installing a 16-metre-long 8-metre wide Thermal Vacuum test chamber capable of simulating the harsh conditions of space. In order to prepare spacecraft for the chill of deep space or getting close to the sun, the chamber can achieve temperatures of -180 ֯C to +100 ֯C.
