Mental Health Awareness Week raises over 10k for Mind

During 16-22 May, Mace took part in Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW), to support our charity of the year, Mind, and raise awareness of mental health issues that can affect one in four of us every year.

This campaign saw the Mace Foundation team up with Health and Safety to recruit over 85 health ambassadors from 50 different projects in 13 countries who shared daily health moments, delivered lunch and learn sessions as well as have some fun whilst raising over £10k for Mind.

As part of MHAW we celebrated the connections, relationships, and people in our lives that add to our wellbeing and protect and sustain our mental health. From family and friends, to colleagues and neighbours; it’s about taking notice of those connections that make you feel safe and supported.

During MHAW we tasked our Health Ambassadors to come up with some creative ideas and activities for their teams to take part in during this week and they blew away our expectations! From early morning yoga, al fresco meetings, stretch and flex exercises, wellbeing breakfasts, team lunches and mindfulness sessions, MHAW was jam packed with activities to get involved in.

#happymonday

In a bid to ditch the back to work blues and start the week on a positive note, the Mace Foundation launched #happymonday campaign.

On 16 May, #happymonday fever spread across Mace offices worldwide with employees sharing what makes them feel good! From terrific tunes, to early morning workouts, cups of tea and cuddles with loved ones we enjoyed hearing about what makes our employees happy. This campaign was designed to focus on something positive to help break the usual cycle and ensure positivity remains throughout the week and beyond.

Kathleen Miles, Director of Fundraising at Mind, said: "I would like to thank everyone at Mace for supporting Mind through your Mental Health Awareness Week. It is clear that Mace is making a step change in removing the stigma around mental health in the construction industry. The funds you have raised will help us to support the one in four people who experience a mental health problem in any given year and their friends and family. Your support really makes a difference.”

MHAW is Mace’s first step in creating an environment for employees to speak openly about mental wellbeing. The next key date is Monday 10 October – World Mental Health Day.
