24/3/20 - Coronavirus: a message from Mace Group CEO, Mark Reynolds
Statement issued 14:00 GMT, Tuesday 24 March
"Over the last few weeks, as the Covid-19 outbreak has developed, we have all been forced to make changes, both in our personal and work lives.
"As a business we have had to make some significant changes to how we operate and I am grateful to all Mace employees across the world for the way in which they have responded and adapted to this extraordinary situation."From 5pm this evening, Tuesday 24 March, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close all of Mace’s offices in Europe, and temporarily suspend all site operations for at least an initial 48 hour period – with the exception of safety critical works – while we consult with our clients and supply chain.
"The health, safety and wellbeing of our people and the communities they work in is our top priority, and unless we are certain sites can operate safely and in accordance with guidance we will not re-open them.
"All of our office-based staff are working from home to ensure business continuity as far as possible, and our business resilience teams are working to manage disruption and prepare our construction projects to return to full operation as soon as it is safe to do so.
"We continue to work closely with the Construction Leadership Council, Build UK and others to ensure our industry takes a unified approach to responding to Government guidance and ensure that the health, safety and wellbeing of all our people and those working for our supply chain partners and clients remains the number one priority.
"Thank you again to all Mace employees, our clients and partners who are working so hard to overcome this challenge."
