Mace appointed to deliver major fit out job in London’s West End
Global delivery consultants and construction experts, Mace have been appointed by Farton Holdings S.A. to deliver the fit-out and upgrade of 40 Argyll Street a 130,000 sq. ft office building situated in the West End conservation area.
The extensive works include three floors of Cat A fit-out, end-of-journey facilities, a three-storey atrium and new reception area. A rooftop terrace and ‘sky room’ pavilion will provide the office occupants with external amenities that can be used year-round.
All works will be carried out while the rest of the building remains operational.
Located in a very busy area, Mace has developed a bespoke lifting system to ensure that materials can be brought in safely and without disruption. A crane mounted on the scaffold will lift steelwork, MEP, Glulam, and CLT elements directly to the work area through the roof.
With a strong commitment to sustainable delivery, 40 Argyll Street is targeting an upfront carbon target below 200 kgCO2e/m², equating to a total of 2,339 tonnes of carbon. In addition, all existing MEP systems and plant equipment will be upgraded to minimise operational carbon.
The scheme is aiming to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’, WELL Enabled ‘Gold’, and NABERS rating of 4.5* with the aspiration to achieve 5*.
Completion is expected in March 2026.
