A record breaking crane at Battersea

Since it was decommissioned in 1983, Battersea Power Station has stood derelict on the south bank of the River Thames. Renowned for its four chimneys and art deco design, the iconic Grade II* listed building is undergoing a massive transformation that will see it restored as a mixed-use development, creating over 25,000 jobs.

In the Summer of 2018, our team on site delivered the installation of a massive 62 tonne steel beam. One of the largest pieces of steel to be manufactured in the UK in recent years, the operation to transport it, lift and install required detailed planning and close cooperation with our supply chain, local authorities and police.

We worked with Select Plant Hire to erect one of Europe's largest tower cranes to get the job done. How do you install a crane that can lift 66 tonnes?
