From its inception, Skylight Madrid was designed to provide Spanish enterprises with a benchmark for what is possible when it comes to sustainable and wellness-enhancing working environments. The sleek glass fronted office space in the heart of Spain’s financial capital prioritises natural space. It includes more than 17,300 sq m of terraces and green areas while reducing energy consumption by 25%, water consumption by 45% and exceeding indoor air quality standards by 30% in comparison to standard reference levels.
Partnering with Buckley Gray Yeoman Architects, Mace provided project and cost management services from the concept design phase, assisting the client – PBE and BWRE – and coordinating a team of top-level consultants and contractors all the way through to final delivery. During the project, global factors impacted the supply chain, dramatically raising the prices of steel, aluminium and other raw materials. As a tried and tested coordinator of large-scale commercial projects, our team managed the relevant claims and, through value engineering, reduced costs without compromising the ethos of the project.
As a result, Mace delivered Skylight Madrid within the agreed budget and timeframe, meeting all quality objectives. Our work earned the building the highest recognition available from several organisation around the world who measure workplace sustainability and employee wellbeing, including a Platinum Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, a Platinum WELL certification for workplace buildings that promote employee well-being and a Platinum WiredScore certification for buildings that offer premium connectivity.
Today, modern professionals can enjoy a workspace enhanced by terraces and green areas, ideal for on the move meetings or corporate events. When it’s time for wellness breaks, Skylight Madrid’s rooftop padel court and substantial gardens offer a perfect environment for recreation or time out, helping to boost overall productivity.
