Mace announces new managing director for International Technology business
Mace, the global consultancy and construction company, has appointed Jon McElroy as its new Managing Director for International Technology.
Jon joined Mace in 2005 as commercial manager for the Shard. On completion of the Shard, Jon moved on to Mace’s newly formed international data centre business in 2014 and has played a central role in the division’s growth ever since.
Before joining Mace, Jon worked in lead commercial roles on numerous projects, most notably in the London commercial office and refurbishment sectors, as well as spending four years on projects in Adelaide, Australia.
Jon takes over the role from Andrew Jackson, who has been recently appointed as Mace’s new Chief Operating Officer for Construction.
Mace’s International Technology division delivers some of the world’s most advanced hyperscale datacentres, growing over the last eight years from a single project in Amsterdam into one of Europe’s leading data centre construction businesses.
In February, Mace published its 2026 business strategy, announcing a drive to become a purpose-led organisation and outlining bold revenue, sustainability and diversity targets for the next five years, including a target to further reduce carbon emissions by 10% year-on-year and expand its service offer in the data centre sector.
Gareth Lewis, CEO for Construct at Mace, said:
“Jon is a hugely experienced member of the Mace Construction team and has built a well-earned reputation as a leader in our datacentre business, joining us in the early days. International Technology is a core part of our growth plans to deliver the ambitions of our 2026 Business Strategy, and Jon is the right person to take the business forward to the next stage.”
Jon McElroy, Managing Director for International Technology at Mace, said:
“Mace’s International Technology team is a leader in the sector, and I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity as its Managing Director at such a crucial time for our future growth. Having been with the business from the outset it’s a real honour to lead it through the next phase. I look forward to working with the wider Mace business and the International Technology senior leadership team, as we continue to build on our reputation for exceptional delivery in this competitive market.”
