Mace appoints new Head of Engineering
Mace, the global construction and consultancy firm, has announced the appointment of Martin Feakes as the new Group Head of Civil and Structural Engineering.
Martin brings with him 22 years of consultancy experience including more than 18 years at the global engineering, architecture and consultancy company, Ramboll, where he served as Market Director for Buildings UK and as Head of Buildings London.
He was also formerly Group Director at Buro Happold, acting as commercial sector lead for the Bath region.
In his new role, Martin will lead on developing the discipline of civil and structural engineering across Mace Group.
His responsibilities will include setting the platform for engineering on projects and programmes, supporting design teams with buildability advice, developing build strategies, embedding Construction to Production (C2P) and optimising construction engineering and temporary works solutions.
He joins Mace as the business ramps up its business strategy delivery, focussing on sustainability, innovation and digital delivery.
Martin Feakes replaces Gordon Deuce who retired in late 2023 after serving 27 years at Mace.
Martin Feakes, Group Head of Engineering at Mace, said:
“I enjoy thinking outside the box, challenging the conventional for the benefit of projects and clients. Great engineering solutions are often the consequence of asking ‘is there a better way?’ and I look forward to helping our team use their skills and curiosity to drive innovation and value across the business. I’m honoured to be able to contribute to the next evolution of Mace and humbled to work alongside colleagues who make the impossible, possible.
“The disciplines of civil and structural engineering are hugely impactful to our industry and society. Through collaboration of our engineering team with consultants, specialists and the supply chain, we can deliver on Mace’s strategy to redefine the boundaries of ambition.”
Stephen Jeffery, Chief Technical Officer at Mace, said:
“I am delighted to be welcoming Martin Feakes into Mace’s Group Technical Services team. His experience and knowledge in the world of engineering will drive forward our offering, joining up parts of the business to ensure we always deliver the best for our clients and projects.
“This is an exciting time for Mace as we pursue further growth internationally and as we continue to take on increasingly challenging and ambitious schemes as the business matures.”
