Project story
In October 2015, we were announced as preferred bidder for National Grid’s £400m integrated security solutions project. This national programme of works, focuses specifically on improving the resilience of National Grid infrastructure for electricity transmission, gas transmission and gas distribution across the UK. The improvements will deter, detect and subsequently delay disruption or damage to these assets.
The programme was initiated in 2005 and is sponsored by the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC). To date, National Grid, in conjunction with its suppliers, has installed upgraded security solutions at more than 50 sites across its electricity transmission, gas transmission and gas distribution sites.
A further programme of works has now been agreed, with an additional 77 sites across the three areas, requiring the development and implementation of a physical solution to improve the security of the site perimeter, electronic surveillance and buildings, prior to April 2021.
Our appointment is part of a three year framework with two potential one year extensions, requiring our team to deliver on a diverse portfolio of transmission and distribution projects and programmes across the UK, both large and small.
As part of a cohesive delivery team, we are responsible for programme management, planning, document control, civil and technology works and commercial management.
